Ingredients
For the Filling:
- 1 cup finely ground kunafa (kataifi pastry)
- 5 tbsp pistachio butter
- 1 tbsp regular butter
For the Pastry:
- 6 sheets phyllo dough (filo), cut lengthwise into strips
- 3 tbsp melted butter
For the Chocolate Coating:
- 6 pieces dark chocolate
- Crushed mixed nuts (pistachios, almonds, etc.) – as needed
Instructions
- In a pan, toast the ground kunafa with 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat until golden and fragrant. Remove from heat and stir in the pistachio butter. Let the mixture cool completely.
- Cut the phyllo sheets lengthwise into strips. Brush each strip lightly with melted butter.
- Place a small amount of the pistachio-kunafa filling at one end of the phyllo strip and fold it into a triangle shape (like folding a samosa). Repeat with the remaining strips.
- Place the triangles on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 10 minutes, or until golden brown from both sides.
- Remove from the oven and let the triangles cool completely.
- Melt the dark chocolate. Dip the top of each cooled triangle into the melted chocolate, then immediately sprinkle with crushed mixed nuts.
- Place the coated triangles on parchment paper and put them in the freezer for 15 minutes to set the chocolate. Then remove and serve.
Tips for Success
- Work quickly with phyllo dough and keep the unused sheets covered with a damp cloth to prevent drying out.
- Don’t overfill the triangles to avoid leakage during baking.
- Use good quality dark chocolate for the best taste and beautiful shine.
- Store the finished triangles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
